Bloom Where You Are Planted

Before we left New Jersey, my colleague and dear friend Sarah hosted a Going Away party for me. At some point in the swirl of hugs and goodbyes, she handed me a small garden plaque. Simple. Unassuming. And somehow… profound.
Bloom Where You Are Planted.

I remember smiling and thinking, I’m good at this.
Landing. Connecting. Creating community. Showing up in meaningful ways wherever life drops me.
And honestly, that’s mostly been true. When we arrived in Texas, I did what I know how to do. I made friends with neighbors. Got involved in my kids’ school and the PTA. Participated in local politics and school board meetings. Volunteered when I could. Put down roots.
And yet, when it came to my own work transition—my creative and professional unfolding—I noticed something else quietly happening. A subtle hesitation. A tendency to negotiate with the moment.
When this, then that.
I should.
I shouldn’t.
Not until.
Sound familiar?
This time of year especially, we’re encouraged to look ahead. To set goals. Make resolutions. Envision a better version of ourselves somewhere in the future. Vision can be inspiring—but it can also pull us out of our lives.
We may notice our thoughts drifting ahead, distracting us from the moment we’re in. When we look more closely, we might realize we’re waiting for some future circumstance before fully stepping into ourselves.
The truth is, there are no guarantees in this life. And when we hold back, we do so at the risk of never fully blossoming.
This present moment is the soil we have. It’s the ground where we get to take root, open our hearts, and live fully—right where we are.
Blooming where we are planted doesn’t mean giving up our dreams or settling for less. It means choosing not to postpone our lives while waiting for conditions to be perfect.
That can feel scary. Somewhere along the way, many of us learned that we have to hold back now in order to be happy later. But that logic doesn’t really hold.
More often, what’s underneath is a fear of being fully seen—of embracing ourselves exactly as we are in this moment.
So often, we present life with a list of conditions.
If this happens.
When that changes.
Once I feel more ready.
And until then, we keep parts of ourselves on pause.
But life isn’t waiting.
Now is the time to bloom where you are planted. To override the instinct to hold back. To say yes. To be brave. To commit fully to yourself—because until you do, no one else can do it for you.
Let yourself be vulnerable. Unfold gently. And still—fully—into the space where you find yourself.
The soil is already beneath your feet. 🌱
Women’s Circles begin again in January—a space to slow down, be witnessed, and practice saying yes to what’s alive now. And 1–1 coaching is always available if you’re ready for deeper support in choosing your dreams today, without waiting for perfect conditions. And since several of you have requested them, I am offering three more Gifted Coaching Sessions to be redeemed in January. Please contact me ASAP to schedule.
With so much love and gratitude for 2025, it's ups and downs, ebbs and flows...let's welcome the fresh start of the new year. I invite us to consider, with trust, the infinite possibilites that each day carries within it!
