Spring Equinox: A Quiet Moment

The Spring Equinox marks a rare moment of balance in the year...when day and night are equal in length. A natural pause. A threshold.

We know these moments in life too, don’t we?

Times when something is ending, something new is beginning, and we find ourselves standing in the in-between.

Often we want to rush out of winter (no pun intended) and fly straight into spring. But this in-between moment can offer something valuable: perspective.

There are often two energies moving through us during times like this- fear and intuition. The tricky part is that they can feel surprisingly similar at first.

Fear tends to feel urgent… loud… future-focused… catastrophic.

Intuition is usually quieter… steadier… present… simple.

The goal isn’t to eliminate fear. Fear is part of being human. The invitation is simply to slow down long enough to hear the quieter voice that may also be there.

Rather than pushing forward into spring with urgency, this transitional moment invites reflection.

The last six months have held their own seasons: growth, change, loss, rest, and transformation.

Winter especially is a time of composting.

Things fall away.

Some parts of life break down, soften, or return to the soil.

Not everything is meant to be carried forward.

But compost is not waste.

It becomes nourishment.

And so as the light begins to grow again, we might gently look back and ask:

  • What fell away over the winter?

  • What was quietly stored for future nourishment?

  • What are you excited about?

  • What do you want to draw more of into your life?

  • What do you want to create or experience?

  • What might still be resting beneath the surface?

Nothing needs to be forced.

Spring doesn’t demand instant blooming. It begins slowly- a seed stirring underground, a shoot pushing through soil, the smallest signs of life returning.

Our lives can move in the same way.

You might take a few minutes to journal, or simply sit quietly and listen for what feels alive inside you right now, even if it’s just a faint spark of curiosity or possibility.

Growth begins not with pushing, but with tending.

Where something feels alive, we can offer a little care. A little attention. A little space to grow.

We can also embody this seasonal shift through breath and movement. Gentle stretching, yoga, or simply standing with your feet on the ground and reaching your arms toward the sky can mirror what is happening in nature- roots grounding downward while new growth reaches upward toward what’s possible.

And whatever isn’t ready yet can remain in the soil.

Trust that it will emerge in its own time.

If you feel inspired to explore this process in commUNITY, I wholeheartedly invite you to join my dear friend and fellow adventurer of 20 years, Marina Pellicciotto, and me, for Root to Rise, an online Spring Equinox Visioning Workshop on March 25th at 630pCentral Time/730pEastern Time.

Together we’ll explore guided meditation, breathwork, gentle movement, journaling, and simple aligned actions to help support the visions that are beginning to take root.

Warmly,

Mar and Mar!
