Doing and Being: How to Step Into Spring Without Forcing It

This week I’ve been sitting with two powerful energies: doing and being.
If you’ve been following my path over the last few years, you know it’s been quite a ride- especially when it comes to redefining my career and the way I serve. The how and the who have both evolved again and again.
Throughout that process, I was lovingly held in a coaching container of my own. It supported the strategy side of things - the doing - but just as importantly, it supported the energy behind it - the being.
Because the truth is, the practical steps were only half the work.
We are human beings first and human doings second- anonymous

Yes, I was making decisions about website design, navigating technical challenges, figuring out how to structure my business, thinking about my ideal client, running numbers, and feeling the pressure of social media (which, at one point, I stepped away from completely).
But at the same time, I was also working through fear. Questions of worthiness. Discomfort around networking. The resistance that shows up when it’s time to “sell” your work. The familiar feeling of not doing enough.
And now, as I continue taking steps toward my dream of serving women, especially those navigating midlife, reconnecting to themselves, and rediscovering what they truly want - I find myself moving through that same balance again.
Doing and being.
Focus and ease.
Create and trust.
Work and allow.
Move forward… and let go.
It’s not a choice between one or the other.
One doesn’t exist without the other.
The real work is learning to hold both at the same time.
And that’s actually the energy behind something I’m creating right now.
The Spring Equinox always feels like an invitation to do something new. New plans. New energy. New beginnings.
But what I’m noticing more and more — in myself and in the women I work with — is that the most meaningful action comes when it starts from a place of being first.
That’s exactly what Root to Rise is about.
Not pushing yourself into spring, but easing into it.
Not forcing clarity, but creating the space for it.
Not rushing into action, but setting intentions that feel grounded and real.
The workshop is really an invitation to “spring into spring” in a different way- starting from stillness, reflection, and connection to what actually feels alive… and then letting the doing grow from there.
Because the truth is, I’m still practicing this myself. Every time I invite women into coaching. Every time I plan a circle. Every time I create a workshop and put it out into the world.
I’m doing. And I’m trusting.
I’m creating. And I’m allowing.
And maybe that’s what this season is really about - not dramatic change, but small, aligned steps that grow from a quieter place.
If you’re feeling that too, that pull to pause before moving forward, then Root to Rise might feel like a really supportive place to begin.
Join my great friend, writer, and yogi Marina and me for: Root to Rise, an online Spring Equinox Visioning Workshop, Wednesday March 25th at 630 pm Central, 730 pm Eastern! Register now, sliding scale.
