Root to Rise: In Connection

Last night, Marina from SeeChange and I came together to offer a workshop we called Root to Rise.

What we really wanted to create was not something intense or overly structured, but something gentle- a space where women could pause, breathe, and simply notice where they are right now. Through guided meditation, gentle movement, journaling, and sharing...we held space for one another to notice what was present. The in-betweenness of the changing seasons. It was beautiful!

But what stayed with me the most about didn’t happen during the workshop itself.

It happened after.

When the space had quieted and faces disappeared from the screen- Marina and I sat together reflecting on what we had just experienced. What stood out wasn’t the exercises or the structure or even the theme. It was the feeling in the room. The connection. The softness that happens when people stop performing and start being real with each other. There’s a quote I’ve always loved:

Connection is why we’re here; it is what gives purpose and meaning to our lives.

Last night felt like a small, simple example of that truth. No one came to be perfect. No one came to have everything figured out. People just came as they were- a little tired, a little hopeful, a little uncertain- and something powerful happened simply because they were together.

And it made me realize something again that I feel all the time in my work as a coach.

If I could, I would hold space for people freely. Not because the work isn’t valuable, but because the connection itself is so deeply nourishing. The time I spend with my clients feeds me just as much as the space supports them. There’s something incredibly human about being witnessed. About realizing you are not the only one feeling what you’re feeling.

Right now, the world often feels like it’s pulling us farther apart instead of bringing us closer.

Technology keeps us busy.

Social media makes it easy to compare instead of connect.

Politics creates distance.

Everyone seems to be moving faster, talking louder, protecting themselves more.

And yet, what we actually need might be the opposite.

Slower conversations. Real listening.

Shared silence.

Sitting next to someone and realizing, Oh… you feel this too.

When we come into real connection, something shifts.

The pressure softens.

The loneliness loosens.

We begin to see how much our lives mirror one another-

the same fears, the same transitions, the same hopes quietly trying to grow.

Connection- we are one.

So if something is beginning to take shape in your life right now, maybe the next step isn’t pushing harder or figuring everything out alone. Maybe it’s letting someone walk beside you. Letting yourself be seen a little more honestly. Choosing closeness instead of distance, even in small ways.

If this speaks to you, you’re always welcome inside the spaces I hold through Spacious Living-whether that’s one-to-one coaching, women’s circles, or future workshops like Root to Rise. These spaces are simply about slowing down, reconnecting, and remembering that you don’t have to navigate change on your own.

You are not meant to do this alone.

And sometimes the most powerful thing we can do, for ourselves and for each other, is simply to stay connected. 🌿

With so much love,
