Coming Clean on My Own Resistance

For ages I've been trapped in a quiet, frustrating loop around social media.
Every time I opened my phone to share my work, post an offering, or talk about my coaching business, I felt a sudden, heavy wall of resistance. So, I did what most of us do when something feels off: I procrastinated, avoided it, froze, complained, blamed.
I told myself I was just "too busy", "didn't know how", "needed help" or was "not in the mood." But over the last two days, I finally stopped making excuses and sat with the uncomfortable truth.
I was resisting social media for two reasons:
I don't have the patience for it. (Let’s be honest, no patience whatsoever.)
I was caught in the comparison trap.

I was watching how everyone else was doing it- the polished videos, the algorithms, the rules- and measuring my inside voice against their outside highlight reel. Because I wasn't doing it their way, I felt like I couldn't do it at all.
So instead of showing up as me, I didn't show up at all.
Yesterday, I stopped fighting it. I turned on my camera, put my face on the screen, and simply said
the truth out loud to anyone willing to listen, knowing that I'm not alone:
"I’ve been avoiding this. I’ve been caught in comparison. And I’m tired of hiding behind perfectionism."
The moment those words left my mouth, I could feel the shift. The weight disappeared. I could laugh at myself. And that's what I plan to do...laugh at my imperfections and the simplicity with which I plan on playing on social media- it's not gonna be pretty!
Naming and claiming my resistance out loud was pure freedom. It reminded me of a vital truth that I talk about with my clients every day: We don't freeze because we lack drive or passion. We freeze because of fear, limiting beliefs, the unknown, and the paralyzing pressure to get it 'right.'
When we get stuck in our heads, we don't just pause on a task- we pause on our lives. We put off the dream. We delay creating the spaciousness, peace, and fulfillment we are desperately craving because the gap between where we are and where we think we should be feels too wide.
But here is what I re-learned this week: You do not need to have it all figured out to take the next step.
You just have to be willing to drop the armor, name what’s holding you back, and show up in your truest, most authentic voice. When you do that, the noise clears away. The space opens up.
If you’ve been standing on the edge of a decision, a dream, or a desire for more breathing room in your life, but you find yourself frozen by perfectionism or comparison, you don't have to navigate that resistance alone.
This is the exact terrain we cross together in coaching: untangling the loops, stepping out of fear, and making space for you to live and work on your own terms.
If you're ready to stop procrastinating on something in your own life and start moving forward with ease, let's talk. Send me a message or reach out today, and let's explore what taking that first step could look like for you.
And as always, you are so welcome to join upcoming events and circles, including an exclusive Candlelit Floating Soundbath on August 8th, and our next Women's Circle- The Landscape of Female Friendship, on August 16th. RSVP's required!
And last, but not least, I've created a short Resources page with books, podcasts, apps that I have enjoyed. I'd love to hear your recommentations that support your own spacious living!
